Things to do and see

​

Both islands have a wide variety of activities, history and nature to explore. You can find more information about the history and sights of the Kuninkaansaari Island on these pages, as well as on-site information boards and guides. For example, you can play yard games, explore perhaps the shortest nature trail in Helsinki, take a trip around the islands on the row boat or try solving the Mystery of Kuninkaansaari Island.

 

When you are hungry, you can enjoy a picnic in the open air or visit Vallisaari and try their facilities and services.

Additional services

​

It is possible to book the nearby self-service wood-heated sauna during your stay from 6 pm to 10 pm or from 7 pm to 11 pm . Water must be carried and the sauna heated by yourself.

​

For the time being, the sauna can be booked as follows:​​

• Guests staying at the Transformer can book a sauna session for their day of accommodation. The starting time can be chosen from 6:00 pm, 6:30 pm, 7:00 pm, or 7:30 pm, and each sauna session lasts 4 hours.

Prices and payment in 2027 (including VAT)

Bookings for June and July 2027 are now open. The remaining dates will be released and opened for reservations at the turn of the year.

Equipment and Facilities

​

• Accommodation for up to four guests (2 + 2)

  • A double mattress, duvets and pillows in the loft

  • A sofa bed for two on the ground floor, including a mattress, duvets and pillows

  • Guests must bring their own bed linen or sleeping bags. If using a sleeping bag, please use a fitted sheet and pillowcase to help protect the mattresses and pillows.

  • Bed linen is also available for rent at an additional cost.

• Dining area on the ground floor with tableware for four guests

  • Plates, mugs, glasses and cutlery

• Cozy lounge area on the mezzanine level

  • Two armchairs, a table and a blanket storage box

• Spacious terrace with outdoor furniture for relaxing

• Private rocky shoreline and swimming dock directly next to the accommodation

• Complimentary use of:

  • Rowing boat

  • Two SUP boards

  • Outdoor yard games for recreation and socializing

• The building is equipped with:

  • Electric heating

  • Refrigerator

• An electric barbecue grill is available for guests behind the building

  • Guests may also use their own camping stove in the area

Water and Sanitation

 

The Transformer Accommodation does not have running water or a sewage system.

• Drinking water must be brought by guests or ordered in advance for an additional fee when making the reservation.

• A handwashing and dishwashing station is available outside the accommodation.

• A water point approximately 30 metres away provides water for washing and sauna use.

• Dry toilets are located at the nearby Hiekkapoukama beach. In addition, guests have access to one locked toilet reserved exclusively for accommodation guests.

Arrival

​

• Guests will receive detailed arrival and accommodation instructions by email no later than one week before the start of their stay.

​

Rowing Boat

​

• Fishing permits must be obtained in advance. Fishing permits are not sold on the island.

• The maximum capacity of the rowing boat is four persons.

• To the east of Kuninkaansaari lies the Santahamina military area, which is part of the Finnish Defence Forces' restricted zone. A 100-metre exclusion zone applies, and landing is prohibited. The area is marked with official warning signs. These restrictions may limit movement and anchoring in certain parts of the surrounding waters.

We Recommend Bringing

​

• A towel and swimwear. The nearby Hiekkapoukama beach serves as the island's swimming area.

• A hand towel.

• Sufficient drinking water and food supplies.

• Personal toiletries.

• Additional lighting if desired, such as a headlamp or flashlight.

• Weather-appropriate outdoor clothing and sturdy footwear for moving around the island.

Other Important Information

​

• The natural island setting offers excellent opportunities for swimming, paddleboarding, boating, fishing and enjoying the unique archipelago environment.

• The use of any open flame is strictly prohibited both inside and outside the building. This includes charcoal grills, disposable grills, candles and similar items.

• The islands are not accessible for persons with limited mobility. Terrain, roads and paths may be uneven, and there are numerous ascents and descents.

• The Transformer Accommodation is narrow and vertical in design. Access to the upper floor and loft is via stairs, making the accommodation unsuitable for persons with reduced mobility and small children.

• The accommodation must be vacated by 12:00 noon on the departure day.

• Final cleaning is not included in the rental price. Guests are responsible for cleaning the accommodation before departure.

• Final cleaning must include at least:

  • Sweeping the floors

  • Removing all rubbish, bottles and cans

  • Wiping tables and other surfaces

  • Cleaning equipment is provided at the accommodation.

• Smoking is permitted only in the designated smoking area located behind the building.
