Kuninkaansaari and Vallisaari offer a fascinating combination of diverse nature and colorful history – from the times of Swedish rule to the fortresses of the Russian era, village life and dramatic events that have shaped the island’s landscape.
Guided tours allow you to discover the secrets of the islands with experienced guides. The tours are organized by Maija Tuurnala, a native of Kuninkaansaari who has lived on the island since childhood. Maija also acts as a guide herself, and under her leadership, the tours convey a love of nature, a deep interest in history, and decades of personal knowledge of the islands – the stories come to life in the very places where they originated.
Vallisaari Tour
Welcome to a diverse guided tour where you will get to know the nature and history of Vallisaari. The tour will stop at lovely landscapes, and you will hear about Vallisaari's rich nature and colorful history as a military island and a unique place to live. The nature that has developed in its own peace for decades and the history that has been layered over hundreds of years will have an interesting dialogue with each other.
The tour will take you through hilly and uneven terrain, and the temperature in the interior of the island is very different from the windy shore, so it is worth preparing for the trip with comfortable footwear and clothing suitable for the weather. It is also a good idea to bring a bottle of water.
Guided tours depart from Luotsipiha, where the water bus arrives. The tour ends in Kuolemanlaakso near the island's café services and the water bus departure pier, unless otherwise agreed.

Kuninkaansaari Tour
Guided walking tour from Torpedolahti Harbour Square to Kuninkaansaari. During the walking tour, you will get to know the colorful history of Kuninkaansaari from the time of Swedish rule to the present day, the defensive fortresses built during the Russian period, and the diverse nature and landscapes of the island.
The island's beautiful nature and fascinating history make it a special excursion destination. Kuninkaansaari is connected to Vallisaari by an embankment, where a water bus operates from the mainland during the summer season. From Vallisaari, you will walk with a guide to the Kuninkaansaari side. It is possible to end the tour at a picnic spot or beach, for example, by the lovely scenery.
The guided tour will take you on hilly and uneven terrain, so it is worth preparing for the tour with good footwear and clothing suitable for the weather. It is a good idea to bring a bottle of water with you.

Story time
A half-hour, relaxed, but informative general presentation about the history and nature of Vallisaari and Kuninkaansaari.
This tour does not involve moving around the terrain, but the stories transport the listener through time and around the islands in their minds. Can be carried out according to the customer's wishes, for example while having a coffee at the picnic tables or sitting on the rocks on the shore.
